Gor was born with multiple congenital developmental defects. His mother abandoned him at the maternity ward. Gor spent almost two years in hospitals and underwent a great number of complex operations. After that he was institutionalised in an orphanage for children with severe developmental disorders and mental retardation. Gor who could speak, feed himself and assemble construction kits was lodged in one room with the children who never learned to speak. In March 2015 Gor moved to the St. Sophia Orthodox Children Orphanage. His life changed completely. At present Gor makes up for the lost time, gains life experience, visits his friends on the weekends. He is a sociable and friendly boy. He is very skilled at using his wheelchair. However, his excretory system doesn’t work properly due to severe congenital malformation, namely bladder exstrophy, and the boy must wear nappies at all times. There is a constant risk of infection that may result into kidney failure. We cannot let it happen! A complex surgery called Kelly procedure is required. Only Kelly procedure can improve excretory system performance. However, only few clinics abroad can carry out this surgery. Please help us pay Gor’s treatment!

Imran Mushtaq, Consultant Paediatric Urologist at the Portland Hospital (London): “The boy needs to undergo a complex reconstructive surgery – Kelly procedure – to recover performance of his genitourinary system. We are able to re-create bladder that will solve problems with the nappies. Such a surgical intervention will improve child’s quality of life significantly”.
Gor V. underwent an examination at the Portland Hospital (London). The urologists there were satisfied with the outcome of the operation and all of the boy's genito-urinary organs are functioning normally. Gor attended a consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon concerning deformation of the lower limbs. A physiotherapy examination showed that it would be possible to modify the position of the left leg to make sitting more comfortableand also that a future operation on the right leg would help the boy stand more easily.
Rusfond (rusfond.ru) helped to raise the necessary funds for treatment.
Svetlana Emelyanova, director of the Svyato-Sofiisky Children's Home, thanks all those who helped him.
